A contrast ink is added to the engraving - edible but fragile, it requires delicate washing in the dishwasher. Intended to highlight your message, it fades and then disappears to give way to the natural patina of the spoon, after 3 washes.
Allow around ten days for customization (at Monnette, as with love, we prefer to think broadly even if it means giving you nice surprises).
